The
2027 Piling & Foundations programme
is in development and will be announced shortly. If you would like to speak, please contact

The 2027 conference looks at what is really happening in the ground: foundation reuse, low carbon materials, data and AI in design, and the lessons learned delivering some of the UK’s biggest projects. It brings the whole piling and foundations community together to share practice, compare notes with colleagues in Europe and plan for a very busy pipeline.
Key topics:
-
Foundation reuse:
investigating and testing existing foundations, and designing with confidence around what is already there
-
Low carbon piling:
cement replacements, additives, durability testing, cure times and how standards are adapting in the UK and abroad
-
Carbon reporting:
measuring as-built carbon and comparing predictions with what actually happened on site
- Design optimisation, data and AI: ground models, ground movement assessment tools, rig data and monitoring of piled rafts
-
Lessons learned:
case studies from high-rise towers, basements, shafts, data centres and major infrastructure
- Programme, procurement and early contractor involvement, including the Building Safety Act and Gateway 3
-
Plant and capacity:
specialist rig availability and planning ahead on busy projects such as HS2 and Sizewell C
- Innovation in ground investigation, from new rigs and geophysics to remote monitoring
-
Skills and early careers:
recruitment, apprenticeships and bringing new engineers through
-
Learning from Europe:
approaches from international contractors and what the UK can adopt
