Mark is a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers with 33 years experience of the geotechnical Civil Engineering industry. For the last 26 years Mark has worked in and led design teams within specialist foundation contractors. Mark has been involved in some key projects such as the Shard, Heathrow T2B, Crossrail and more recently HS2. Mark chaired the technical committee of the Federation of Piling Specialists from 2011 to 2020 and has been the Technical Director of Balfour Beatty Ground Engineering since 2016. Mark is a ROGEP Registered Ground Engineering Advisor and specialises in leading teams to deliver technical solutions for large muti-disciplined foundations schemes. Over his career Mark has seen many changes in the industry particularly within safety, digital, environmental and diversity. The recent work on HS2 highlighted first hand the challenges of recruiting and retaining good staff.
