
John started his career in 1990 after obtaining a BSc in Civil Engineering from the City University in London and then immediately afterwards, graduating with a Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering from the University of Florida. For the first eight years of his career, John was with Arup Geotechnics, where he started as a graduate engineer working on many building and infrastructure projects in the UK. For his last two years he was based in Arup’s Brisbane office, where he assisted in building the geotechnics group. From 1998 to 2005 John was the General Manager of Corus Hydrobarrier. Here he had overall management responsibility for the technical, commercial and operational activities of the business. Hydrobarrier was a specialist sealed sheet piling contractor creating innovative solutions in the basements and contaminated land barrier markets. From 2005 to 2008 John was the Director and General Manager of Keller Ground Engineering (KGE). KGE carried out all geotechnical processes in the UK including mini piling, grouting, soil mixing, ground anchors, soil nailing and cut off walls. John’s geotechnical contracting journey then took him to Expanded Piling, where he fulfilled various roles from Technical Support Manager to Southern and Northern Area Leader. In 2011 John went on to become the Managing Director of BAUER Foundations Canada, where he was responsible for BAUER’s construction activities in Canada until 2016, when he was appointed as the Regional Director for the Americas for BAUER Spezialtiefbau GmbH. In this role he was responsible for BAUER’s construction activities in the United States, Canada, Central and South America. Since October 2023, John’s career with Bauer took him back to the UK as joint Managing Director of Bauer Technologies Ltd. John is a Chartered Engineer (CEng) and a Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (MICE).
