Federation of Piling Specialists

Dimitrios is a Technical Director of AKT II with over 20 years of experience on the design and construction of deep basements and piled foundations. Dimitrios was awarded a PhD in geotechnical engineering from Cambridge University on the effects of tunnelling on full-scale piled foundations and piled structures. After a brief spell with Mott MacDonald and a specialist monitoring contractor at the Building Research Establishment (BRE) he joined Cementation Skanska where he developed specialist skills in the design and detailing of embedded retaining walls and piled foundations based on constructability. Dimitrios joined AKT II as Technical Director leading the geotechnical team of AKT II in producing performance driven foundation designs fully integrated with the superstructure. Dimitrios is one of the contributing authors of the new CIRIA 760 report on the design of embedded retaining walls and his passion is the application of performance driven design on foundations considering constructability and efficiency. As part of this work, Dimitrios is leading the FPS sustainability by design working group.
